Award in Food Safety

This course will give learners a good understanding of basic food hygiene practices. It covers food poisoning, bacteria, contamination, temperature control, preparing and presenting food, spoilage and prevention, delivery and storage, personal hygiene, cleaning and disinfection, food pests, premises and equipment and food safety control. No work placement is required to complete this course. Assessment is via a multiple choice question paper.

  • Learners will have training in food handling to a level appropriate to their job

This course offers the information to reach a Level 2 Award in Food Safety.

It covers such things as the causes of food poisoning and potential sources, causes off contamination and prevention principles, and storage temperatures. 

Additional activities encourage the learner to reflect on the learning. There is also suggested extra reading that gives both practical information and links to websites to expand knowledge.
