We are gearing up to join this year's five-day celebration of apprenticeships - National Apprenticeship Week taking place from 5 to 9 March.
Now in its 11th year, the week is designed to showcase how apprenticeships positively impact individuals, businesses, communities and the wider economy in England.
During this year's National Apprenticeship Week, #NAW2018, employers and apprentices will come together to celebrate the success of apprenticeships while encouraging even more people to choose one as the pathway to a great career and a viable alternative to university.
The celebration is coordinated by the National Apprenticeship Service and this year's theme is 'Apprenticeships work' #WorksForMe.
The objective is to increase awareness and take-up of apprenticeships and traineeships by:
- Recognising apprenticeships as a ladder of opportunity to a brighter future and showing that they are available for all
- Celebrating the benefits apprenticeships bring to employers and the impact apprentices can have on businesses and the wider economy
- Celebrating the impact apprentices have made
As Sue Husband, National Apprenticeships Service Director, says: "Apprenticeships offer real career opportunities and National Apprenticeship Week 2018 will showcase how apprenticeships work across all industries, sectors and job roles, from school leaving age to older apprentices.
"We want 2018 to eclipse previous triumphs and we would encourage apprentices, employers and our partners to join forces and help celebrate the brilliance of apprenticeships.
"There’s no better way to mark apprenticeship achievement than by the apprenticeship community coming together and shouting loudly about the difference apprenticeships are making."
The event has grown year-on-year as apprenticeships become an ever-increasing popular choice for young people.
Throughout the week, a series of nationwide and local events will take place - last year there were over 500.
And we are joining in by staging an Open Day at our Riverside Training offices in Spalding on Wednesday 7 March.
We've trained 2,256 apprentices - who have gone on to carve out successful careers in teaching, Early Years and other professions - over the last 10 years.
Initially we offered apprenticeships in childcare, but now there are many more including digital marketing, business management and customer service.
During the Open Day some of our former apprentices will be sharing their stories as part of the #10kTalks initiative - and these will feature in future blogs.
We will also be promoting our apprenticeship success stories on social media and encouraging young people who have completed their apprenticeship in the past 12 months to register to take part in their local Class of 2018 graduation ceremony.
Apprenticeships are ideal for young people to fast-track to a great career.
Introducing enthusiastic and talented individuals into business has huge benefits for both the employer and apprentice.
